Basic hunger

		I am weary for lack of hunger -
		I lie in a rut of my own devising
		And my soul threshes without content
		Within my silent body;
		I wish Your work well,
		But have no passion
		To myself be a part of it -
		For it takes sacrifice,
		Service,
		Selflessness,
		Submission -
		And I am so strongly
		Holding on at the moment,
		Unwilling to be rid
		Of what I still so sinfully enjoy.
		I am incapable, in my base self,
		To change all that needs changing -
		And so do I look to you, Lord -
		Change my heart
		And help me hunger after knowing you;
		Help my putives be more
		And my love be Your love.
		Change what I am
		That I may be who you created me
		Best to be.
