Euphenysm *

The sounds thunder at my ears -
			The bass kicks in -
			Moving me.

			The woven melodies,
			Playing through and with each other;
			Concentrating on one strand,
Getting caught up in the next.
			Following the plaited rhythms -
			Getting lost in the detail,
Settling back in the wash of harmony.

			Melody forgotten,
Lyrics work through my head -
			Meaning hits me -
A subtle stab of truth -
			Pulls at something deep inside,
Something loosened by the polyphony -
Euphonious words to change my soul.

			May this moment of devotion,
			Decision,
			Internal desquamation -
			May it last forever...

			Closed eyes:
			Dissolved...
			Resolved...

			A silent, peaceful determination -
Peace before the storm of really living that life -
			The one which has evolved
			To near-perfect in my mind.

			The volume decreases momentarily,
			Melodies replaced by a raucous
			Yet somehow rhythmic applause.

			I remain in silence,
			My eyes slowly open...
			A new world awaits,
And it is one which has yet to see.
			I am to enter,
			Soon.

* Play on words - hybrid of 'euphonious' (euphony): to be pleasing to the ear; and 'euphemism': substituting a vague term for a blunt one.
