Goodbye world

I look up and see once again
The beauty of the night sky -
			The stars, the galaxy -
			Going on infinitely.

The stars are slowly winking out,
			Disappearing without a sound,
			Without a trace,
Until there is only one -
The one that inhabits the day sky,
The only one left to give me life.
			Suddenly,
			Without warning,
It blinks out of existence too -
Leaving me in complete and utter darkness.

My Opa was a bit of a poet - we received many amusing birthday cards from him with much poetic licence on rhyming and whatnot - he re-wrote this one after he read it. Here is his version after minimal re-editing on my behalf.
