My Independence

You attempt to direct my life,
			But for the moment
			I walk my own path.
			If you pursue me:
			To shame me
			Or drag me to return,
Then I shall flee further down my path,
			And by so,
			Tear the webbing that holds
The path you wish me to travel
			And my own together.
			I hope, and I believe,
That these paths will merge again,
			But, for the time being,
			Leave me walk mine alone.
