Lest you forget

		There is hype
		And within it
		You've captured my heart -
I want to live for you -
		Well, for now anyway -
I'm prepared to be on fire for you now
But back home it's different -
Back at home my friends aren't the same,
I don't have the same joy
And I don't have room for you.
		My life
		It is my own -
You're just going to mess it 'round -
		I'm happy with my life;
		I'll be yours
		At camp,
		At church,
But the rest of my life
		Is fine as it is.

"But can't you see, my child
That I have given you this life
So that you may praise me with it
		No matter where you go
And what you do with it -
I will only massively change your life
If you want me to -
		But please,
Don't forget what I offer you,
Don't forget me when you leave
		This place,
		This company -
		For more than anything
I want you to ask me into your life -
		To remember me,
		Think of me,
		Talk to me,
		Rely on me.
I will give you many opportunities
		To welcome me in,
But I will not push you
Into something that you don't want -
For that is also my gift to you -
		Yours is the decision,
		But please:
		Choose me over death.

"You have seen something of me,
You have believed in me -
		Please don't forget me."

I was at the very first Sonfest - a three day Christian music festival held simultaneously across three Australian states - was awesome. Part of the way through, I was walking and talking to a cool friend of mine, and the basis of this poem was discussed - so when I was alone a while later, I sat down and wrote this for her (and many others as well really, but she was the one in mind at the time).
