Run the Race

We are told to run the race -
To keep our eyes on Jesus only -
Throwing off all that keeps us from doing so.

But if my brother stumbles beside me -
In this, he may take my eyes away from the Lord -
Shall I not turn and help him up?
No matter how much longer it may take me
			To get to the end,
			I shall aid him.
For I do not wish to reach the end
			Only to find
That many who I thought were running the same race
			Have not made it.

So, I shall never simply put my head down and run -
For in that I may miss how others are running next to me.
			By doing this,
			It will be harder,
			It will take longer,
And temptations will jump out at every opportunity -
			But,
God will be there with me,
And he will help all of us
			Regain our feet
			And continue onwards.
