Silent night

			Darkened appeal of a sunset -
			Showing beauty
			In a somewhat saddening form -
			Of the disappearance of the day,
			But also of the coming of something more.
			The last rays of light
			Splintering through the dense,
			Dark cloud-cover:
			Saying goodbye to the world;
			An inescapable fate -
			Only slowly removing itself from sight -
			Loath to leave;
			Remaining as a soft essence
			Even after the sun has dropped from view.
			The land begins to change -
			Shadows engrossing;
			Small refuges of light left.

			I breathe the silence and peace
			Of the night that now begins.
