Words of Woe

			Why so complex?

			One word
Sets off explosions in another's head -
			Their problems,
			Fears
			And hates
			Rise to the surface
			And flow out in response
To this single word of woe.

I float along on this current,
Not knowing where it is taking me,
Unaware of what it is doing
Until it is too late -
			I have reached the sea,
			And begin drifting out.

Maybe next time I will manage
To keep my head above water -
It does not matter now -
I am changed, for better or worse.
I could fight my way back to the river,
But I'm not sure if I still want to.

I find my way back to shore,
			And as I wander away
My mind does begin to flow
With nemeses to these words of woe.
