Faded Chance

			It has stayed with me,
			And probably always will.
			For we were so close,
So close to being together -
			Emotionally instead of just physically;
			So much deeper
Than the basic flirting I had been a part of before,
			So much...
But it was not to be,
There were too many missed chances,
			And so, finally,
It all faded into painful memories.
			The involvement slowly dissipated
			And deteriorated into emptiness...
Oh, to go back and take one of those chances -
How much different would we be?
			Or maybe how much fuller?
			Or simply, maybe,
			How much more pained?
			I shall never know,
But simply remember it as it was,
			As it could have been,
			As it wasn't...
