for people born in Jamaica

Below is a list, ordered by surname and then by forename(s), of some people who were born in Jamaica and whose details were recorded in a census of England, Scotland, or Wales. A person's name is linked to the reference details of The National Archives census document that contains the entry for that person.

The dates of the relevant GB censuses are:
6 June 1841,
30 March 1851,
7 April 1861,
2 April 1871,
3 April 1881,
5 April 1891,
31 March 1901.

(Note that the place of birth is normally not recorded in the 1841 census.)

Entries for the 1851 census that have a TNA reference of HO 107/* followed by a county abbreviation in brackets are derived from the transcription of the census for the counties of Devon, Norfolk, and Warwickshire, or from the 2% census sample. Further information, including the full TNA reference, can be obtained from the relevant census index and transcription, or the sample data.

The list is far from complete. In the Ancestry.com transcription and index of the 1871 census for England there are at least 2122 people whose place of birth is Jamaica. In the transcription (and index) of the 1881 census there are 617 Jamaican-born people in London alone. In the Ancestry.com transcription and index of the 1891 census there are at least 766 people whose place of birth is Jamaica.

As the 1901 census search is available through Ancestry.com, in general entries from that census won't be included here.

Note: the place of birth is always Jamaica; only a more specific place name, if it appears in the census record, is given below.
